Hi, I'm Mauricio Cari Leal.

I build high-performance software.

I'm a Computer Science Master's student at PUC Chile and a Software Engineer. I enjoy creating efficient, scalable solutions for products used by people.

About Me

I'm a developer and researcher with a solid background in computer science. I enjoy solving technical problems, whether it's boosting performance, making sure things can scale, or automating processes.

My curiosity about technology and its impact on users has led me to work on projects with a diverse tech stack, including interactive maps, smart contracts, and modern web development.

Professional Experience

Research Intern

National Institute of Informatics

Sep 2024 - Mar 2025

Tokyo, Japan

Conducted research on real-time UAV flight conformance verification in Tokyo airspace using smart contracts.

Worked with a Java simulator for Unmanned Aircraft System Traffic Management (UTM) to enhance resilience and scalability.

Software Engineer Intern

Nirvana Insurance

Dec 2023 - Feb 2024

Santiago, Chile

Developed a scheduled task in Go to automatically calculate fleet scores in PostgreSQL upon new data availability, reducing fleet score retrieval times by 70%.

Designed a Quota Manager that dynamically sets and updates request limits for the usage of third-party APIs with variable per-request costs, reducing overspending by 80%.

Implemented a Quota Manager server with gRPC, Redis, and PostgreSQL that can register and update new quotas at runtime and handle up to 100 million concurrent requests from internal services monthly.

Competitive Programming

I've participated in coding competitions since high school and later joined my university's competitive programming team. It has been an incredible experience, where I had the opportunity to practice in coding camps in Chile, Argentina, and Brazil, and qualify for international competitions.
